Data and using data to run a business is paramount these days. Building just to say you have Petabytes of data stored is not success. Success is starting from your customer’s usage patterns and building backwards applying architecture and techniques to make sure you are nimble, efficient, secure, accurate, and reliable enough to meet multiple demands of your business. At Global payments we have done just that using GCP and Google Big Query to apply the right architecture to satisfy needs from self service, Enterprise Applications, BI tools, and DaaS API’s from a single source.

What this session will go through is the journey, architecture, approach, best practices, and continuous improvement we have utilized to build a successful Data Lake in GCP that continues to satisfy business needs and garner support around the company not by IT but by the business.

About the Speaker

Mark Kubik heads the Data & Analytics function at Global Payments Inc. He has spearheaded the building of Global Payments’s data lake on Google Cloud platform. Along with the GCP platform, his group provides Data and Analytics capabilities to 60,000+ internal and external customers worldwide.

In addition to being an astute technology manager, Mark enjoys many outdoor activities having coached travel sports for 12 years, biking, golf, and any good destination vacation.
